Year 6 will be focussing on place value with numbers up to 1,000,000 and learning to use these within the four operations. We will be using formal written methods including column addition, column subtraction, column multiplication and both short and long division. We will be comparing, simplifying and using fractions, percentages and decimals. As well as continuing this work from last term, we will be identifying and describing shape.
We will be learning how to write narratives of various genres as well as non-fiction text types including: persuasion, discussion and non-chronological reports. We will be exploring how to write in both formal and informal ways and when this would be appropriate.

Year 6 have PE twice each week. Bramble has PE on a Monday and Tuesday afternoon. Elm has PE on Tuesday and Friday afternoons. Please ensure that PE kits come in on a Monday to be sent home on a Friday.
Year 6 Bramble visit the library on a Tuesday morning or Friday afternoon and Year 6 Elm visit the library on a Monday.
Year 6 are expected to complete some reading every night with or without an adult and to play Times Tables Rockstars for at least 5 minutes a night.
The children must complete all homework set within the revision guides. An email with specified pages will be sent out each Tuesday. We expect homework to be handed in on a Monday morning.
Year 6 are expected to have their Reading Diary with them every day along with their reading book, study guides and magpie books.
