Year 6 Elm - Mr Angus
Mathematics, the children will be using the new 2014 curriculum. This will focus on improving mental methods of calculation and further developing their reasoning and problem solving skills.
In English this year, Year 6 will be following the new 2014 curriculum. They will explore fiction and non-fiction texts using a range of speaking and listening activities e.g. discussion. They will have the opportunity to explore the different features of these text types before creating their own.

In Year 6 the children have P.E. on Tuesday and Friday of every week. They are expected to have their P.E. kit with them for every lesson. Tuesday PE is Rising Stars (outdoor team games) and so children will need a black or blue tracksuit and trainers when the weather is cold (after half term). Unfortunately plimsolls will not be suitable for outdoor PE.
Year 6 will visit the library on Fridays.
Year 6 are expected to complete homework every night.
They should spend their time on:
- Reading and discussing the text
- Any written homework set
- Practising times tables
- Practising spellings
ENGLISH, SCIENCE and FOUNDATION SUBJECTS
Set on Half Termly, to be handed in weekly on a Friday.
Matheletics homework is set on FRIDAY, to be completed by the following FRIDAY.Parental support with homework would be beneficial for your child.
