Curriculum at Creswick
‘Confident Learners for Life’
Our Curriculum is a combination of skills and knowledge taught through a topic based approach. In teaching through a topic based approach, we can meet the needs and interests of all our children.
Many cross curricular links are made to help engage the children. This also aids the retrieval of knowledge and skills taught through different curriculum areas, to help learning reach the long term memory.
A long term plan maps out learning for all year groups from EYFS to year 6. This ensures that teachers are building on prior learning and preparing learners for future learning.
Topic webs and yearly overviews are created so that when and where skills and knowledge are taught is well planned, to consider progression, resources, the learning environment and to help to close gaps.
Enrichment activities and a fluid approach to planning topic, ensures that all children are engaged, inspired and start their learning from an equal starting point with some prior knowledge before teaching new content.
Our curriculum intent endeavours to embed the school ethos, with the school values and growth mind-set at the heart of our curriculum.
Our SEND statement (found on the SEND page) contains information about how our approach to the curriculum enables us to comply with our duties in the Equality Act 2010 and the Special Needs and Disability Regulations 2014 and make the curriculum accessible to all. children in our care.
